The Dark Knight Rises prologue review

I got to see the prologue finally yesterday at IMAX, I have to say that i was totally blown away.

Despite what other people think, i loved Hardy's Bane voice and thought it suited the character well, at times it was hard to understand but i got most of the dialogue. Nolan has written some great lines for Bane which gives him an air of menace like when asked what would happen if the mask came off Bane replied with "It would be extremely painfull, for you". Some of the shots Nolan used were breathtaking and due to the incredible size of IMAX screens, it realy felt as if you were there. Bane and his men pull of an incredible plane heist where they connect one plane to another and abduct a Doctor into the other plane. Zimmer's score is slightly eerie as it builds up the Bane chant. While The Joker used psychotic ways to terroise people, Bane seems to be all about brute force. The heist itself is an incredible stunt which looks like it was done without any CGI. The sizzle reel at the end gave a taste of what was to come, with images of Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, Batman on the batpod, Bane and Batman fighting, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake, the batwing and the finalshot which left everyone in awe which was Bane dropping a broken Batman cowl to the ground.

There is no doubt that July 20, 2012 will be an incredible day for bat-fans.

Magic Moment #1

Every week from now until the release of 'The Dark Knight Rises'  we will be posting a magic moment from 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight'. These are moments in the films that had you on the edge of your seat and sent tingles down you spine.

The first moment is from 'Batman Begins' when Bruce Wayne is in the batcave with a swarm of bats around him. this is the moment he is ready to become Batman because he purges his fear of bats. Hanz Zimmer's score here really makes the moment even more magic as it builds to an epic crescendo. "Bats frighten me, i think its time my enemies shared my dread'.

Christopher Nolan talks to EW about shooting with Imax and the prologue.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Christopher Nolan has talked about shooting with IMAX cameras and how it was important to start the film off with a bang. He said "My feeling, particularly on an action film, is you want to be thrown into a situation that somehow takes your breath away early in the film.". He also talked about how they couldn't film the whole production in IMAX due to the large amount of noise made by the camera's. He said "I haven’t cut the rest of The Dark Knight Rises yet, so I don’t know the exact running time, but I think we’ll be in the 45 to 50 minute range." You can check out the rest of the interview at http://insidemovies.ew.com/2011/12/09/dark-knight-rises-prologue-christopher-nolan/ and make sure that you check out my review of The Dark Knight Rises prologue on December 14.
